Crispy Roasted Sweet Potatoes With Chili Powder And Cumin

These crispy roasted sweet potatoes have a caramelized exterior with a soft tender center, flavored with a spice blend of chili powder, cumin, and garlic.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes (2 to 3 potatoes), cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) avocado oil
  • teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Prep sweet potatoes. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Peel and dice the sweet potatoes into roughly 1 inch cubes.
  • Add oil and seasonings. Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Drizzle with avocado oil, then sprinkle with chili powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss the potatoes until they are evenly coated with the oil and spices.
  • Add the sweet potatoes to the baking sheet. Transfer the seasoned sweet potatoes to a large, unlined baking sheet. Arrange them in an even single layer, leaving space between the cubes for proper air circulation.
  • Roast the potatoes. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven. Roast the sweet potatoes for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are tender.

Notes

If using olive oil or coconut oil: Roast sweet potatoes at 425°F. for 15 minutes, flip, and then lower the temperature to 400°F for the remaining time.
  • Avocado oil (refined) smoke point: 500°F.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil smoke point: 400°F.
  • Coconut Oil (refined) smoke point: 400°F
  • Ghee smoke point: 485°F.
