    Patriotic Charcuterie Board Ingredients

This beautiful charcuterie board is guaranteed to impress your guests.

A photo laying out all of the ingredients I used for Patriotic Charcuterie Board. Honey, Black Raspberries, Brie, Blueberry Cheddar Cheese, Salami, Blueberries, Cherries, gluten-free crackers, almonds, and white cheddar.

    Ingredient Notes

    • White Cheeses: White cheddar cheese, brie, goat cheese, blue cheese, and mozzarella cheese are excellent white food options for this board. I used a small star cookie cutter to cut festive stars from Tillamook's Snack Portion White Cheddar Cheese.
    • Festive Cheese: A seasonal variety of cheese such as a wedge of blueberry-flavored Wensleydale is a great way to incorporate more blue foods.
    • Meat: Salami or prosciutto pair well with cheddar and brie.
    • Crackers: Use any plain cracker flavor of choice, gluten-free if needed.
    • Nuts: Marcona almonds and macadamia nuts complement the flavors of this board, and the beige-neutral color gives more focus on the red, whit,e and blue patriotic colors.
    • Fresh Fruits: You'll want a variety of blue fruits and red fruits to make your board pop with color! Fresh berries such as blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and vibrant red cherries are all great additions.
    • Dip: Honey adds the right amount of sweetness that complements the meat, cheese, and berries. You could also use red pepper jelly.

How To Make A Patriotic Summer Charcuterie Board

The first photo on how to build your patriotic charcuterie board. First step is to evenly space hard and soft cheeses on the opposite side of the board.
    • Add the cheese, meat, and crackers. Begin by placing the hard and soft cheese onto the wooden board, spacing them evenly on opposite sides. (save the star-shaped cheese for the end). Fold the meat into quarters, stacking and fanning each piece around the cheese. Leave some room to add a small number of crackers.
The second photo in the instructions for building your charcuterie board. Step two in this photo adds the spreads and nuts to the board, along with grouping and clustering of the fruit on the board.
    • Add nuts, fruit, and dips. Place the condiment bowls on opposite sides of the board to create an even flow and add your fillings of nuts and honey. Group each fruit option together and cluster the fruit around the small bowls and through the middle of the board.
This photo shows the last step in building your patriotic charcuterie board. In the last step you should use herds and edible flowers to garnish your board.
    • Cut out the star-shaped cheese. Cut out the star-shaped cheese. Using a small star-shaped cookie cutter, cut the white cheese into small stars and place the stars all around the board.
    • Fill in the gaps. Add additional crackers, fruit, or nuts to fill in the gaps. Finish the board by adding a cheese knife or two and garnish with fresh herbs or edible flowers if desired.

Expert Tips For The Ultimate Patriotic Cheese Board

    • Do not add too much of one ingredient: You want an even amount of each food to create a cohesive look and for your guests to get a little bit of everything.
    • Cut out the cheese stars the night before and add them last: This is the most tedious part of creating the board, but it's worth the time. I recommend cutting out the stars the night before and placing them in a tightly sealed container until ready to use.
    • Add an American flag or two. Tiny details like this will stand out and flow with the patriotic themes.

    Storage

    • To store: Charcuterie boards are best served the same day, within 2-3 hours of serving. Leftover cheese, meat, and fruit and be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
The final photo shows my Patriotic Charcuterie Board completed. This photo was taken from an aerial perspective. You can see all of the ingredients on the board. A decorative cheese knife is to the side of the charcuterie board.

    FAQ

How much food do I need for this cheese board?

If using this charcuterie board as an appetizer, plan to get around 2-3 ounces of cheese and 1-2 ounces of meat per person. If you are using the charcuterie as a meal, then plan to get 4-5 oz. of cheese and 3 ounces of meat per person along with plenty of crackers, fruit, and nuts.

How many people does this charcuterie board feed?

This board could easily feed 4-6 people. For a large crowd, I recommend doubling the ingredients.

Assemble the charcuterie board 30 minutes before guests arrive. This charcuterie platter can sit out at room temperature for 2-3 hours.
