Instructions

  • gluten free biscuits for biscuits and gravy
  • Brown the sausage. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sausage, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently and scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet, until the sausage is cooked through.
  • Cook the flour. Lower the heat to medium. Sprinkle the gluten-free flour evenly over the sausage. Stir well to combine, and cook for 1-2 minutes until the flour is completely absorbed.
  • Add the milk. While stirring constantly, gradually pour in the milk. Continue stirring frequently until the gravy thickens and begins to simmer. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stirring often, until it reaches your desired consistency.
(If the gravy is too thick, simply add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it reaches the desired consistency.)
Pour the milk into the ground sausage.
  • Season the gravy. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Notes

Storage:
Gravy
Any leftover gravy can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days. When refrigerating sausage gravy, it tends to thicken considerably. Warm it over low heat on the stove top or in the microwave, gradually adding more milk until it reaches your desired consistency. Adjust the seasoning as desired.
Biscuits
Leftover biscuits can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days.
