Bacon-wrapped dates are one of the easiest appetizers to make with only two ingredients:
- Bacon
- Dates
How To Make Bacon Wrapped Dates
This bacon-wrapped date recipe is simple and takes less than 30 minutes from start to finish.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil, and set it aside.
- Take the 8 slices of bacon, and cut each slice in half.
- Take one slice of bacon and wrap it fully around one date, secure the end with a toothpick. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Arrange the dates evenly on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes. After ten minutes, use the toothpick to flip the date to the opposite side, and bake for another 8 minutes.
- Remove the dates from the oven. Place each date on a paper towel-lined plate, and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Can You Reheat Bacon Wrapped Dates?
Bacon-wrapped dates can be made ahead of time. Take the refrigerated dates and place them in a single layer on a lined baking sheet. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5 minutes. You can also microwave the dates for 30-60 seconds, depending on size.
How Long Can You Keep Bacon-Wrapped Dates?
You can store the cooked bacon-wrapped dates in the refrigerator for 5 days and in the freezer for up to 3 months.
Are Bacon Wrapped Dates Gluten-Free?
Yes, bacon-wrapped dates are naturally gluten-free.
Tips For The Perfect Appetizer
- Serve While Warm: This recipe is best when served fresh and warm. Remove the dates from the oven right when guests arrive. They will keep at room temperature for 2 hours.
- Easy Clean-Up: Line your pan with foil and place the dates on a baking rack. This can help with some of the grease clean-up.
- Use Medjool dates: These in my opinion are the best dates, as they have a rich caramel-like flavor. Make sure they are fresh and not hard for the best results.
- Buy pitted dates: Save yourself the hassle and buy pre-pitted dates.
